The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday, February 14, named Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and L Murugan as its Rajya Sabha candidates from Odisha and Madhya Pradesh respectively.
If elected, then it will be a second term for the both the ministers in the Upper House of Parliament from these states.
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has extended its support for Vaishnaw's candidature saying "for the larger interest of State's Railways and Telecom Development".

Even in 2019 elections, the BJD voted for the Railway Minister.
From Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has named three more candidates besides Murugan, the MoS in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, for the five vacancies from the state. The BJP has the numbers to win four seats while the Congress can win one.
