While the BJP hails the Minimum Support Price (MSP) hike and passage of Farmers' Bills as a historic day, at least eight opposition parties including the Congress, TMC and DMK have decided to boycott parliament proceedings. The Congress has said procurement under MSP is now under threat.

Farmer groups like Bharatiya Kisan Union have called for a nationwide bandh on September 25. Unions said the MSP on six rabi crops is meagre and does not take into account rising input costs. Even RSS affiliate Bharatiya Kisan Sangh wants a legal assurance that the private sector will have to procure crops from farmers on MSP
To discuss this, CNBC-TV18’s Parikshit Luthra is in conversation with Badri Narayan Chaudhary, general secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh; Avik Saha, national general secretary of Swaraj India; Syed Zafar Islam, BJP MP and Gourav Vallabh, Congress spokesperson.
