54-year-old Piyush Goyal is a Rajya Sabha member and has handled various portfolios like Railways, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines in Modi’s last Cabinet. He was also appointed the interim finance minister and presented the 2019 Budget.
Prior to his entry into the Rajya Sabha, Goyal, who is a chartered accountant by profession, was working as an investment banker.
His political journey began in 1984 when he joined the BJP. He occupied many important positions including the post of the party’s national treasurer and the chairperson of Information Communication Campaign Committee of the party.
Goyal also served as a member of SBI and Bank of Baroda and participated in leadership programmes at Yale, Oxford and Princeton Universities.
