Lok Sabha Elections Opinion Poll: NDA poised to win all 5 seats in Uttarakhand, again

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to make a clean sweep in Uttarakhand in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to the News18 Mega Opinion Poll. The poll, conducted across 518 constituencies and engaging over 1.2 lakh respondents, expects the saffron party-led alliance to secure all five seats in the states.

The NDA is expected to get a vote share of 62% in Uttarakhand, while the Opposition collation I.N.D.I.A. is likely to get 30%. Others are expected to get 8% of the total votes.


In February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a campus of the Central Sanskrit University in Devprayag. The Bharatiya Janata Party's government in Uttarakhand also introduced the Uniform Civil Code Bill, which seeks to “govern and regulate the laws related to marriage and divorce, succession, live-in relationships, and related matters,” making it the first state in independent India to have a common law.

According to News18 poll, 60% of the respondents are very satisfied with the Uttarakhand government's performance, while only 1% claimed that they are very dissatisfied. Regarding the central government, 88% of the respondents said they are somewhat satisfied with the government and PM Modi's performance over the last five years. Meanwhile, 82% are very to somewhat satisfied with the sitting MP of their Lok Sabha constituency.

Jobs comprise the decisive factor for 63% of respondents. This is followed by concerns about inflation (44%) and law and order (34%).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP secured all five seats in the state. The dates for this year's Lok Sabha elections are yet to be announced. In 2019, the previous elections, the voting took place in seven phases between April 11 and May 19.
