Lok Sabha Election | EC chief says preparations nearly complete
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar announced on Saturday in Bhubaneswar that the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, just a few months away, are nearly complete. Addressing the media, he stated that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is fully ready to conduct the 2024 Parliamentary and state Assembly elections.

During the press conference, Kumar mentioned the Election Commission's efforts to enhance the inclusivity of electoral rolls, specifically highlighting the enrollment of 3,380 third-gender voters. He also disclosed that 50% of the polling stations, totalling 22,685, will have webcasting facilities in place. The ECI is placing special emphasis on accessibility, with 300 polling stations being managed by persons with disabilities, and a focus on persons with disabilities, youth, and women.
The Election Commission team had conducted a review of poll preparedness for simultaneous elections to both the Lok Sabha and the Odisha Assembly on the preceding day. The proactive measures and detailed arrangements indicate a commitment to ensuring a smooth and inclusive electoral process for the upcoming elections.
