The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday, October 31, conducted searches at the premises of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kulwant Singh as part of a drugs-linked money laundering investigation, PTI reported.
Searches were underway in Mohali, Amritsar and Ludhiana. The ED action is being undertaken under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
On Monday, October 30, the ED issued a summon to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to appear before it for questioning on November 2 in the money laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The AAP has alleged that the BJP was trying to finish the party off by putting its top leaders behind bars.
This is the first time that Kejriwal has been summoned by the ED. He was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case in April.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi claimed the BJP was using these tactics to target the AAP as it knows that it cannot defeat Kejriwal in elections. "There are reports that Kejriwal will be arrested on November 2. Next, they will target Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be targeted," she claimed.
