The Congress party has officially unveiled its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections during a press conference held on Tuesday, March 12. The announcement comes hot on the heels of the party's initial list release on March 8, which featured 39 candidates.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal revealed, "We have already announced our first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Today, we are going to announce the second list. Yesterday, CEC met and cleared the list of around 43 names from Assam, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan."


Providing a breakdown of the diverse candidate selection, Venugopal shared, "In this list, out of the 43 candidates, 10 are General candidates, 13 OBC candidates, 10 SC candidates, 9 ST candidates, and one Muslim candidate."

Key contenders in the second list:

  1. Nakul Nath: Kamal Nath's son will be contesting from Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara. Nakul Nath, the scion of the former CM, aims to secure a stronghold for Congress in the region.
  2. Vaibhav Gehlot: The son of former chief minister Ashok Gehlot, Vaibhav Gehlot, has been nominated to represent Congress in Rajasthan's Jalore.
  3. Gaurav Gogoi: Congress has fielded Gaurav Gogoi in Assam's Jorhat. Gogoi's political prowess and standing within the party make him a noteworthy addition to the candidate roster.
  4. Rahul Kaswan: Rahul Kaswan, who recently switched allegiance from the BJP to Congress, is set to contest from Rajasthan's Churu.
