Union minister for food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Wednesday said the Congress has shut down and cut off almost all of the welfare schemes started by the Akali Dal government in Punjab.

"There is no government in Punjab, the law and order situation is dismal, drugs are delivered to homes on a telephone call. More than 900 farmers have committed suicide in two years and around 450 youth have died of drug overdose” Badal said.
On upcoming elections, she said, "It is going to work in our advantage because when you are in power no matter what allegations are made you have no excuse because you can’t say that when we will come in power we will do this."
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has increased two-fold since 2014 in food processing and is the need of the hour for saving farmers, she said.
