The Bharatiya Janata Party's intent behind releasing the
manifesto was not to make headlines the next 24 hours, but it is a commitment till 2024, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview to News18.
"We intend to change the lives of the common citizen," said PM Modi. "Our manifesto is well grounded. Five years of effective governance has gone into the making of this sankalp patra. And only we can and we will deliver what we have promised in the next five years."

The Modi-led party on Monday unveiled its manifesto for the 2019
Lok Sabha elections, focusing on farmers, poverty and housing for all.
The BJP manifesto is a resolution, while manifestos of other parties are just announcements, said PM Modi. 'I would like the intellectual class to compare both our manifestos. Our manifesto should be viewed on the basis of our track record."
Patriotic Indians will not tolerate promises made in the Congress manifesto regarding Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), added Modi. Congress is soft on terror, while the BJP government is at the edge of eliminating terrorism, claimed Modi.
"Their views on the Army are similar to those of Pakistan. No patriot will tolerate this language. Their manifesto talks about removing AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act). This amounts to removing weapons from a soldier's hands," PM Modi said.
