Arvind Kejriwal vs ED: 'Liquor scam decreased revenue of government' Union Minister VK Singh calls for probe

On Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal skipping ED summons for the third time, former Dy. CM of Chhattisgarh, TS Singh Deo says,”…Arvind Kejriwal has asked the ED for the basis of all the summons…Arvind Kejriwal never said he would not go. He has just asked in writing the basis for the summons…”

“This is nothing new, Govt is doing probe against all opposition leaders, putting pressure on them and insulting them…whole nation knows that agencies are being misused…one by one all opposition leaders are being probed…” said Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav.

“…The liquor scam decreased the revenue of the government and benefitted private players… this is a scam and will be investigated. Two people (Satyendra Jain and Manish Sisodia) have already been arrested and even he (Arvind Kejriwal) is linked to them. Why does he fear an enquiry if he is not wrong…” said Union Minister Gen. (Retd.) VK Singh.

“One by one the scams done by Kejriwal and his party are coming to light…today he is not ready to appear before ED and behaving like a fugitive. If there is nothing to hide, why is he not appearing before even after 3rd summons?…” BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said that they are “going against Arvind Kejriwal because he is an honest leader and is regarded as such. BJP cannot tolerate that.”

“If he doesn’t have anything to hide then he should go and give all the facts and figures to the agency (ED). Why is he running from the investigation?” says BJP leader Nalin S Kohl.

“ED is an independent investigating agency. The ED has been trying to summon Arvind Kejriwal since November 2, 2023. Kejriwal has been scuttling away from the investigating processes by making flimsy excuses. I want to ask Mr. Kejriwal: Is he going to decide whether a summon is legal or illegal? Is he going to prescribe how the investigation should proceed? This is a classic case of VVIP syndrome,” says Delhi BJP Secretary Bansuri Swaraj.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh moves Delhi High Court seeking bail in Excise policy money laundering case. He was denied bail by the trial court recently. Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 4, 2023.

Delhi CM Kejriwal says, “There is no excise scam, BJP wants to stop me from campaigning for Lok Sabha polls. I will cooperate if legally valid summons is sent.”

Delhi CM Kejriwal addresses digital press conference. He says:

– False summons sent to me by Enforcement Directorate, my biggest strength, asset is my honesty.

– I’ve explained to ED why their summons is illegal, they have no answer to it.

He says:

– Have always worked for the country, haven’t committed any wrongdoing
– ED, other agencies always probe only opposition leaders
– Probe was stopped in those cases where the accused joined the BJP
– Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, Vijay Nair are in jail not due to corruption but due to their refusal to join the BJP

Delhi LG VK Saxena recommends another CBI enquiry in ‘Fake lab tests’ in Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics. Fake/non-existent mobile numbers were used to mark the entry of patients.

“Many AAP leaders have been arrested in connection with the liquor scam. He (Arvind Kejriwal) has also been summoned (by the ED). He should cooperate in the legal procedures. If he’s being questioned, he should answer them. But he is consistently disobeying the law. No one is above law.”
