14 Opposition MPs suspended from Lok Sabha for remainder of Parliament session
Fourteen MPs from the opposition parties were suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remainder of Winter Session of Parliament on Thursday, December 14, for "unruly conduct". Five among these belonged to Congress.

These MPs are: Congress — TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, S Jothimani, Ramya Haridas, Dean Kuriakose, Benny Behanan, VK Sreekandan, Mohammad Jawed and Manickam Tagore; DMK — Kanimozhi, SR Parthiban; CPI-M — PR Natarajan, S Venkatesan and CPI — K Subbarayan.
While moving a resolution to suspend Congress MPs, Parliamentary Affairs minister Pralhad Joshi said, "This House having taken the serious note of the misconduct of TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Jothimani, Ramya Haridas and Dean Kuriakose in utter disregard to the House and the authority of the chair and having been named by the Chair resolve that above mentioned members to be suspended from service of the House for the remainder of the Session under rule 374/2."
The suspended MPs raised the issue of the security breach in Parliament and demanded a statement from Home Minister Amit Shah in this regard. The MPs rushed to the Well of the House raising their demand. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day as Opposition created uproar over the security breach in Parliament on December 13.
Reacting on the suspension of Opposition MPs, Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal said, "If they don't need the opposition, they should suspend everybody, because they don't want any questions to be asked. We have been saying that the Home Minister should come and explain the situation; tell the people of this country that we all will be safe and take action against the gentleman who gave these two permission to jump into the House."
