On This Day: The Big Three met to discuss terms to end World War II, UN adopted Rome statute and more

SUMMARY

Known as the Big Three, US President Harry Truman, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill met in Potsdam, a suburb of Berlin, Germany, between July 17 and August 2, 1945, to negotiate the terms for the end of the Second World War. Churchill was later replaced by Clement Attlee, who became the Prime Minister during the conference. Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945, ending the Second World War.
