Early in 2022, the tennis world received a shock as 26-year-old Ashleigh Barty declared in an interview that she had decided to walk away from the sport. Barty had just won the Australian Open in 2022. But the former World no.1 had decided to move on from the sport after feeling  "spent". Barty had also played cricket for a while.
