Narendra Modi (Varanasi): Although there is no doubt about the result of the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat, the question is mainly about the margin of victory for the Prime Minister. Modi had won the 2014 elections with a margin of 3.37 lakh votes against his nearest rival, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal. This time Modi is facing Ajay Rai of the Congress as his main rival. Rai had forfeited his deposit in 2014. (Image courtesy: AP)

The 'mahagathbandhan' has not fielded its candidate from Raebareli to avoid division of votes in the opposition camp. ((Image courtesy: IANS)

Lovely briefly joined BJP in 2017 but returned to the Congress fold the next year. What makes the East Delhi Lok Sabha seat truly interesting is the Aam Aadmi Party candidate Atishi, who has served as an advisor to Delhi’s education minister and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. Atshi has been credited for playing a key role in bringing about reforms in Delhi’s government school. Gambhir was nominated by the BJP after the saffron party denied ticket to incumbent Mahesh Giri.
