Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition: Volkswagen India has introduced a special edition of the Taigun, the GT Edge Trail Edition, priced at ₹16.3 lakh. This limited edition model is aimed at boosting sales during the festive season.
Exterior Upgrades: The GT Edge Trail Edition sports cosmetic enhancements over the standard Taigun. It features a ‘Trail’ badge on the tailgate, special decals on the rear fenders, doors and C-pillars, functional roof rails, blacked-out 17-inch alloys, and red-finished front brake callipers. Available paint options include Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver and Candy White.
Classy Interior: The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition boasts a sophisticated interior design. The seats are upholstered in black and accented with contrasting red stitching, and the word “Trail” is stylishly embossed. The car is equipped with a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless phone connectivity and charging, automatic headlamps, a rear camera and TPMS.
Feature Highlights: Despite its impressive features, the Trail Edition does lack certain amenities. It does not offer ventilated and powered front seats, a sunroof, cruise control, a fully digital instrument cluster, full LED headlamps or six airbags. However, it does come with an additional feature - a dashcam that can record both external and internal visuals and display them on the in-built 2-inch IPS LCD screen.
Engine Details: The Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition will only be available with the 150hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Price Comparison: Priced identically to the mid-spec GT trim it is based on, the Taigun GT Edge Trail Edition costs ₹16.3 lakh. It is ₹2.06 lakh cheaper than the more expensive GT Edge Limited Edition, which is based on the top-spec GT Plus variant.
Rivals: The Taigun goes up against the likes of Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate in India.
