GT Lineup Expansion: Mercedes-AMG has introduced a new entry-level model to its GT lineup. The new addition, named the GT 43 Coupe, marks a departure from the twin-turbo V8 engines of its siblings.
Powering the GT 43: The GT 43 is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This is complemented by an e-turbo, a mild hybrid assistance system, and a rear-wheel drive.
Unique Exterior Design: The GT 43 stands out from its V8-powered counterparts with a subtly revamped exterior design. It features a redesigned front bumper with larger air inlets, narrower front and rear fenders, and a cleaner rear bumper.
Customisation Options: Mercedes offers various customisation options for the GT 43. These include wheel sizes up to 21 inches, a fixed rear wing, and packages featuring high-gloss chrome or black accents.
Luxurious Interiors: Inside, the GT 43 sports an all-black treatment. It features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen for the MBUX infotainment system.
Comfortable Seating: Standard features include AMG sports seats upholstered in Nappa leather. Optional upgrades are available through the Manufaktur personalisation programme.
Under the Hood: Under the hood, the GT 43 houses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. This is paired with a Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1-inspired electric exhaust gas turbocharger and a 48V mild-hybrid system with a belt-driven generator.
Impressive Performance: The powerplant delivers 415 bhp and 500 Nm of torque through a nine-speed multi-clutch gearbox to the rear wheels. Mercedes also claims a short-term power boost of 10 kW (14 hp) from the belt-driven starter generator.
Speed and Acceleration: Mercedes claims that the GT 43 can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 280 kmph. The removal of four cylinders and the AWD layout likely contribute to a substantially lower weight.
High-Performance Features: The GT 43 is equipped with AMG steel spring suspension, high-performance aluminium shock absorbers, and lightweight coil springs. Optional extras such as all-wheel steering and the AMG Dynamic Plus package bundle numerous high-performance features.
