Maserati’s New Launch: Maserati, following the launch of GranTurismo in 2023, has unveiled the all-new GranCabrio. The GranCabrio promises to enhance the GranTurismo’s features without compromising on performance or comfort.
Convertible Feature: The GranCabrio trades a coupe roof for a folding fabric arrangement. This roof can be lowered or raised in 14 seconds, even at speeds of up to 50kph.
Powerful Engine: The GranCabrio shares its Nettuno 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine with the GranTurismo and MC20 sportscars. Currently, it has only been unveiled in top-spec Trofeo guise, where the V6 produces 550hp and comes with all-wheel drive as standard.
Performance Statistics: Maserati hasn’t revealed the GranCabrio’s acceleration figures or top speed yet. However, it claims the GranTurismo can sprint from 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 320kph. These statistics are likely to be slightly reduced for the convertible.
Potential Variants: Maserati has yet to confirm if the GranCabrio will also be available with the coupe’s 490hp V6 and 760hp electric powertrains. However, the Folgore EV has been spotted testing abroad, suggesting its arrival is imminent.
Exterior Design: The GranCabrio looks very similar to its coupe sibling, but features a fabric soft-top instead of a roof. This top is available in five colours and can be operated via a touch button on the central display. It retains Maserati’s signature design elements.
Interior Features: Inside, the GranCabrio mirrors its coupe sibling. It features dual screens for infotainment and HVAC controls, a classic analogue clock on the dashboard, and a new standard neck-warmer system. A manually operated wind deflector, which reduces turbulence for passengers, is an optional extra.
Previous Launches: The last new Maserati launched in India was the MC20, back in March 2023. The company had previously confirmed that the GranTurismo coupe will arrive in India in the April-June 2024 period, and the GranTurismo Folgore EV in the October-December period.
Future Expectations: Given that Maserati has offered the GranCabrio in its previous iterations in India, it is expected that this new model will also come to India, perhaps sometime in 2025.
