Ferrari’s New Release: Ferrari unveiled the 499P Modificata, a limited-series track car, at the Ferrari World Finals at the Mugello Circuit. This launch marks Ferrari’s triumphant return to top-tier endurance racing in 2023.
Celebrating Victory: The 499P Modificata is a revamped version of the victorious 499P from the Centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June this year. It’s designed to redefine track driving experiences.
Exclusive Ownership: This track car is exclusively for non-competitive use by “gentleman drivers”. Owners will have access to the car for two years and can participate in nine annual racing events organised by Ferrari.
Sport Prototipi Clienti: The 499P Modificata leads Ferrari’s new Sport Prototipi Clienti programme, allowing customers to purchase modified versions of Ferrari’s race cars.
Power and Performance: The car’s power comes from a mid-rear mounted 3.0-litre hybridised V6, similar to the 499P, but enhanced to produce a combined 707hp. An additional 81hp is available for seven seconds via a “push to pass” button.
Torque Output: While Ferrari hasn’t commented on torque output, it’s revealed that the electric motor produces 179Nm. Combined with the V6’s 712Nm from the 296 GT3, the Modificata could potentially produce up to 895Nm.
Engineered for Accessibility: Ferrari faced a “huge challenge” in engineering the powertrain to be accessible for less experienced customers. The engine mapping has been tuned for easy torque management.
Bespoke Tyres: During its bespoke Pirelli tyres’ development, Ferrari prioritised “vehicle dynamics and powertrain delivery management”. The tyres are designed for long, continuous runs and easy warm-up management.
Aerodynamic Design: Designed by Flavio Manzoni, the car features ducts, channels and vents for smooth airflow over its cab-back body. It also includes a bumper-width light bar at the back and a large rear spoiler.
Chassis and Interior: The car sits on a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis with F1-inspired push-rod suspension. The interior is minimalistic for weight purposes but includes a digital rear camera, fixed bucket seats, an adjustable pedal rack and a racing steering wheel.
