BMW Vision Neue Klasse X unveiled: Concept SUV with 30% faster charging, 300 km range in 10 minutes

Neue Klasse Philosophy: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X brings the philosophy and technology of the Neue Klasse to the realm of Sports Activity Vehicles. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, stated that the Neue Klasse reflects the variety of models that customers desire today and in the future.

Innovative Drive Control: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X will also reveal more details about an innovative type of drive and chassis control for all future Neue Klasse vehicles. This system, based on a software stack developed in-house by the BMW Group, ensures a smooth drive at all times.

Design Leap Forward: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X showcases the reduced design language and the significant advancement in exterior and interior design of the Neue Klasse. The two-box design of a BMW X model combined with the fully-electric vehicle architecture offers new possibilities for a more spacious interior.

Iconic X Models: Despite the changes, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X retains the iconic character of the X models. It features a monolithic, clean design with a distinctive vertical interpretation of the BMW kidney grille.

Next-Gen BMW iDrive: The next generation of BMW iDrive provides a unique digital user experience in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X. It includes a redesigned steering wheel with multifunction buttons, a Central Display with intuitive touch control functionality, and advanced voice control of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

BMW Panoramic Vision: The BMW Panoramic Vision projects the most important information across the entire width of the windscreen. This feature will be complemented in the Neue Klasse series models by the enhanced BMW 3D Head-Up Display.

Personal Sound Experience: The Personal Sound Experience with the new HYPERSONX WHEEL, presented for the first time in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X, creates further opportunities for a personalised user experience. This digital function allows passengers to enjoy their favourite soundtrack on every journey, contributing to an immersive user experience.

Revolutionary eDrive Technology: The sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology enhances the overall efficiency of the Neue Klasse as the new round lithium-ion battery cells have a volumetric energy density that is over 20% higher than the previously used prismatic cells. With the transition to an 800-volt system, charging speed is accelerated by up to 30%, enabling a range of 300 kilometres to be recharged within ten minutes.

Sustainable Material Use: The BMW Vision Neue Klasse X represents BMW Group’s efforts to increase the use of petroleum-free materials and secondary raw materials, and optimise recyclability. The vehicle uses Verdana, a complete plant- and mineral-based and petroleum-free surface material. Maritime plastics, obtained from discarded fishing nets, are used for injection-moulded components, making up 30% of selected components.

Optimised Recyclability: The materials and design chosen for the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X facilitate component disassembly and improve recyclability. Side skirts and the front and rear apron attachments are produced from recycled mono-materials. This new design concept aligns with the principle of the BMW i Vision Circular presented in 2021, which focused on the use of mono-materials to optimise recyclability.
