This mutual fund has turned ₹10,000 SIP into ₹5.34 crore in 19 years
Since its inception on February 24, 2005, the Kotak Smallcap Fund has delivered a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.01%. For perspective, this return means that if ₹10,000 were invested in the scheme as Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) every month, the investment would have grown to around ₹5.34 crore as of February 27, 2024.

About the fund
The investment objective of Kotak Smallcap is to generate capital appreciation from a diversified portfolio of equity and equity related securities.
The scheme predominantly invests in companies in the small cap market capitalisation segment across sectors.
Harish Bihani has been managing the fund since October 20, 2023.
Performance
The scheme has offered 23% rolling returns in 10 years, 18.53% in five years, 22.55% in three years, and 27.27% in one year on an average, the fund house mentioned on its website.
During the same time period the benchmark (Nifty Smallcap 250 - TRI) offered 21.21%, 26.72%, 31.09%, and 69.39% returns respectively.

The same will be effective from March 4, 2024. Fresh lumpsum investments, including additional investments or switch-ins, will be capped at ₹2 lakh per PAN (first holder or guardian) per month.
Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) and Systematic Transfer Plan (STP) registrations will continue with a monthly limit of ₹25,000 per PAN for various frequencies, the fund house said.
The move comes in response to the recent significant surge in small-cap stocks.
