Jeevan Pramaan Patra FAQ: Eligibility, ways to submit life certificate online and more
All pensioners are required to submit a ‘life certificate' or Jeevan Pramaan Patra to pension-disbursing authorities (PDAs) such as banks and post offices in November to receive their monthly share. This can be submitted by pensioners either by presenting themselves personally at PDAs or by delivering a life certificate online. The Jeevan Pramaan Patra has a validity of 12 months from the date of prior submission.

Pensioners can generate a digital life certificate using a software application and a secure Aadhaar-based biometric authentication system. The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) so generated is stored online and can be accessed by the pensioner and the PDA as and when required. Failing to submit this could result in the suspension of their pensions.
Here's an FAQ on Jeevan Pramaan Patra or life certificate submission:

Jeevan Pramaan Patra FAQ: Eligibility, ways to submit life certificate online and more

I am a retired government employee. Am I required to submit Jeevan Pramaan or life certificate?

Yes.

The annual life certificate, or Jeevan Pramaan Patra, is required to be filed by individuals receiving government pensions.

Why is it mandatory to submit life certificate? What happens if I fail to do so?

A life certificate is produced by a trusted entity to confirm that an individual is alive at the time of its creation.

Failing to submit this could result in the suspension of pensions.

With approximately 69.76 lakh central government pensioners and countless more from state governments and other institutions, it is crucial to confirm that pensioners are still alive.

Instances of pensions being claimed on behalf of deceased individuals have underscored the necessity for stringent monitoring.

I am a senior citizen and receive pension but I am not in a position to reach bank and submit certificate. What should I do?

Yes, it might be difficult for senior citizens and other retired employees to visit the bank every year and submit a life certificate in person.

So, the government has made provision to generate the digital life certificate using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication by visiting the Jeevan Pramaan portal or downloading the Jeevan Pramaan app on smartphones.

Once your digital life certificate has been authorised, it will be stored in the Life Certificate Repository.

It will be automatically forwarded to your pension disbursing agency via the internet.

What documents will I require for generating life certificate?

You are required to provide Aadhaar number, name, mobile number and self-declared pension-related information like PPO Number, pension account number, bank details, name of the Pension Sanctioning Authority, Pension Disbursing Authority, etc.

I want to generate the life certificate online. What are the ways to do so?

There are several ways to submit life certificates without the need to visit a bank.

Firstly, the government provides face authentication technology, allowing pensioners to submit certificates conveniently using an Android smartphone.

You can download the Aadhaar Face RD app from the Google Play Store and the Jeevan Pramaan application.

Secondly, you can request a postman to submit digital life certificate through the India Post Payment Bank website.

The Central Pension Accounting Office also allows pensioners who prefer not to visit the Pension Disbursing Agency to submit their life certificates.

The certificate must be signed by a designated official as listed by the CPAO.

You can also opt for doorstep banking services.

Bank officials visit the pensioner's home to verify proof of survival, particularly benefiting those with mobility challenges.

The service is available for senior citizens above 70 and disabled individuals with complete KYC.

How can I know if my digital life certificate has been accepted or not?

You can download the digital certificate from the Jeevan Pramaan portal to know the status.

I submitted request for Jeevan Pramaan but the same got rejected. What should I do?

You should contact the Pension Disbursing Agency.

Jeevan Pramaan is rejected in case wrong particulars are provided while generating the digital life certificate.

You will have to generate a new Jeevan Pramaan by providing all correct information and biometrics.
