Here’s how you can check your ITR refund status online

One can expect a tax refund when more tax is paid by an individual through Tax-Deducted at Source (TDS) or advance tax than his or her actual tax liability, Bankbazaar.com said. The refund will be credited to your bank account once the tax return is processed and the claim is accepted by the I-T department.

Visit the I-T department website, https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.

Enter your user ID, password and Captcha code. Please note that for every individual, their PAN Card number is the user ID.

Once you login, click on ‘View Return And Forms’ on the page.

Select the ‘Income-Tax Return’ from the drop-down menu and enter the assessment year.

Once you click on the submit button, the page will display your refund status.

You can also check for your refunds through Tax Information Network (TIN) NSDL website. The website has been established by NSDL on behalf of the Income Tax department which is a repository of nationwide tax-related information.

Visit the TIN NSDL website, https://www.tin-nsdl.com/ and click on the ‘Services’ section and select ‘Status Tax Refunds.’

Click on the ‘Status of Income Tax Refunds’ and provide the necessary details such as PAN card details, assessment year and the Captcha code.

Once you submit your details on the page, the website will show you your refund details on the screen.
