The festive season has already arrived and in October there will be several public holidays due to festivals like Dussehra. The banks in different states of the country will remain closed on government holidays and festive days as per regional calendars. According to the bank holiday list released by the Reserve Bank of India, there will be 16 bank holidays, including second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays, in the month of October.

According to the guidelines of RBI, all the banks including public sector banks, private sector banks, foreign banks and cooperative banks will remain closed on national holidays and regional holidays due to the local festivals. In view of the same, the regional holidays are decided by the respective state governments. The banks across the country will be closed on national holidays like Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 and for Dussehra or Durga Puja on October 24.
In order to avoid any inconvenience and last-minute hassle, the customers are advised to plan the bank-related works accordingly. However, internet banking services and ATMs will remain operational throughout the country on all days.
Here is the list of all state-wise bank holidays in the month of October 2023:

October 2: Gandhi Jayanti (National Holiday)
October 8: Sunday
October 14: Mahalaya (West Bengal) and Second Saturday
October 15: Sunday
October 18: Kati Bihu (Assam)
October 21: Durga Puja- Maha Saptami (Assam, Manipur, Tripura, and West Bengal)
October 22: Sunday
October 23: Dussehra- Maha Navami or Ayudha Pooja on Vijaya Dasami (Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Kerala, Nagaland, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal)
October 24: Dussehra or Vijaya Dashami or Durga Puja (except in Andhra Pradesh and Manipur)
October 25: Durga Puja or Dashain (Sikkim)
October 26: Durga Puja or Dashain or Accession Day (Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir)
October 27: Durga Puja or Dashain (Sikkim)
October 28: Lakshmi Puja (West Bengal) and Fourth Saturday
October 29: Sunday
October 31: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary (Gujarat)
All the above-mentioned bank holidays are categorised into three sections which include, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
