Tata Motors on Wednesday launched a new variant Nexon XM(S) at an ex-showroom Delhi starting price of Rs 8.36 lakh. The popular sports utility vehicle (SUV) model will be available in both petrol and diesel variants and comes in both manual and AMT transmission. The new Nexon variant comes with various features including an electric sunroof, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and steering mounted controls in addition to existing features such as Electronic Stability Program, LED DRLs with Projector Headlamps, Driver and Co-Driver Airbags, Hill Hold Control, ConnectNext Infotainment System by Harman and Multi- Drive Modes.
The launch of the new variant is significant as Tata Motors is looking to strengthen its stronghold in the subcompact SUV segment in the near future. This would be especially challenging as rivals such as Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite have emerged as a threat to the Nexon's hold in the market.
The automaker had earlier introduced an electric variant for an introductory price of Rs 13.99 lakh in January.
