Up to 112 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have raised Rs 1,933 crore through initial public offerings in the year 2018 to date, and has already surpassed Rs 1,753 crore raised by 135 SMEs in the calendar year 2017, with four months still to go.
So far, 445 SMEs have already listed on the SME exchanges – BSE SME and NSE Emerge, and have collectively raised more than Rs 5,000 crore since the launch of these SME platforms.
Also, there has been a significant rise in the average issue size of SME IPOs from Rs 7 crore in 2012 to Rs 17 crore in 2018.
These SME stocks are giving good returns too, as high as 218 percent.
Gautam Gems, a Gujarat-based company engaged in manufacturing and trading of diamonds, got listed on BSE SME platform in February this year.
The share was issued a price of Rs 36 apiece and is currently trading at Rs 114.45, more than 3 times gain since the listing.
Similarly, Gujarat-based manufacturer and supplier of agricultural seeds, Bombay Super Hybrid Seeds, is currently trading at Rs 132.5 per share on NSE Emerge, double its issue price of Rs 60 per share.
Dangee Dums, a cake-manufacturing company, got listed on the NSE Emerge, earlier this month is already trading 77.43 percent the issue price of Rs 74 apiece.
