The benchmark 30-share S&P BSE Sensex ended with gains of over 221 points at  40,469, after hitting an all-time high of 40,606.91 in intra-day trade. The broader NSE Nifty50 also closed 43.85 points higher at 11966, after reclaiming the 12,000 level for the first time since June 11. The Nifty MidCap index underperformed, ending mildly in the red. The Nifty Bank surged 1.29 percent. ICICI Bank, Infosys and HDFC were the top gainers while YES Bank, Bajaj Finance and Titan Company were the most active stocks. Titan shares settled 10 percent lower at close.

The bank's net profit went up 26 percent at Rs 129.8 crore against Rs 103 crore YoY. Gross NPA stood at 15.43 percent against 15.44 percent QoQ while net NPA stood at 5.59 percent against 5.69 percent QoQ. Provisions of the bank stood at Rs 789.5 crore against Rs 729.5 crore QoQ) against Rs 808.3 crore YoY.

-Benchmark indices extended gains led by private banks and Infosys with the benchmark Sensex hitting an all-time high of 40606.91 points intra-day. The Nifty also crossed the 12,000 mark intra-day.

-The Bank Nifty surged 1.43 percent, largely led by ICICI Bank along with Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank.

-Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises snapped a two-day losing streak to gain over 6 percent after the company's board giving an in-principle approval to the re-appointment of Punit Goenka as the managing director and chief executive officer for a further 5-year period upon the conclusion of his current term on Dec 31.

-Shares of Titan Co fell 9 percent, their biggest intra-day loss in nearly four months, to hit a one-month low of Rs 1,165 on lower-than-expected second quarter earnings and as it has cut its jewellery sales growth guidance to 11-13 percent for October-March from 20 percent earlier.

Shares of index major Hindustan Unilever extended their gains after a large deal worth Rs 15.19 crore was struck on the National Stock Exchange at 1137 IST. 
As many as 70,000 shares of the company were bought in a large deal on NSE at Rs 2,170 per share, representing 10 percent of volumes, the largest quantity traded in the stock today. So far today, 772,145 shares of the company have changed hands on the National Stock Exchange. At 2.31 pm, HUL shares quoted at Rs 2177.95, up 0.27 percent on BSE.

CNBC-TV18's sources with direct knowledge reported that Adani Ports & SEZ's logistics subsidiary is in advanced talks to buy Snowman Logistics. 

Gateway Distriparks is the parent company of Snowman Logistics and is looking to sell the loss-making company to raise funds and reduce debt. 

Gateway has around Rs 600 cr of debt on its books and is looking at avenues to monetize the poor performing assets. Currently, Snowman Logistics is trading below its IPO issue price of Rs 47/share in Sept 2014.

In intraday, the share price climbed 14.49 percent at Rs 43.85 per share on the NSE.

Godrej Consumer Products on Wednesday reported a decline of 28.3 percent YoY in consolidated net profit at Rs 414 crore. 

The company's consolidated revenue went down marginally by 1.1 percent at Rs 2,630 crore as compared to Rs 2,661 crore. However, EBITDA (Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) rose 17.5 percent at Rs 571.9 crore v/s Rs 486.5 crore in the same quarter last year. 

EBITDA margin came in at 21.7 percent v/s 18.3 percent last year.

Indian markets pared losses and turned positive in the afternoon session on Wednesday after realty stocks picked up. All sectors were trading in the green except Nifty PSU Bank.

At 12:50 pm, the Sensex was trading 170.79 points or 0.49 percent at 40,420.33 while the Nifty50 index was trading 43.15 points or 0.36 percent at 11,960.35.

Nifty Realty index was the best-performing in the Nifty50 sectoral indices, rising 2.61 percent followed by Nifty Metal. Nifty PSU Bank was down 0.62 percent and remained the only sector trading in the red.

Cipla, Infosys, Zee Entertainment, Kotak Mahindra Bank and JSW Steel were the top gainers while Titan, Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, TCS and Indian Oil Corporation were the top laggards.
