“The quantum of the hike was in line with market expectations... Markets also anticipate that this increase will lead to the higher end of the interest rate cycle. Increases in interest rates above this level may be concerning for long-term borrowers and may dampen consumer demand for the holiday season," says Nitin Bavisi, CFO, Ajmera Realty Infra India.

Would still stay away from the smaller banks: Ajay Srivastava

"I would still stay away from the smaller banks, because technology risks, business risks, put together everything you would not be rewarded enough in smaller banks," said Ajay Srivastava, CEO, Dimensions Corporate Finance Services. 'So if you want to be in the bigger banks, I think that's the place to be. I do not know when RBI will protect their margins but I hope sooner or later they come to the fact that savers are equally important in the economy. And the fact that is the need to now pull in a percent or two out of the NIM and give it to the savers."
