Narayana Murthy gifts Infosys shares worth ₹243 crore to grandson Ekagrah Rohan Murty
NR Narayana Murthy, co-founder of one of India's largest software services exporters, has gifted 15 lakh shares, worth about ₹243 crore to his grandson Ekagrah Rohan Murty, according to data from the stock exchanges on Monday. The shares amount to 0.04% of the share capital of Infosys.

With this transaction, Murthy will now own 0.36% from 0.40% in the Bengaluru-based company. The Infosys co-founder held a 0.45% stake or 16,645,638 equity shares of the company, as per December 2023 shareholding pattern.
The mode of transaction was "off-market", the information technology services company said in an exchange filing.
NR Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty's son Rohan Murthy and daughter-in-law Aparna Krishnan welcomed a baby boy on November 10 last year. Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty also have two granddaughters-- Krishna Sunak and Anoushka Sunak, the daughters of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18’s Shereen Bhan, Narayana Murty said that his wife Sudha Murty, who not only provided him with the seed capital of ₹10,000 to start Infosys but also urged him to focus on the export markets, was “more qualified than all seven of us”.
Infosys was set up by Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishnan, SD Shibulal, K Dinesh, NS Raghavan and Ashok Arora. The company started operations from Pune in 1981.
Infosys shares were trading were trading 0,75% lower at 1,621.70 apiece on the NSE during today's late afternoon trade.
