In 2023, the Indian equity markets witnessed a resurgence of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and a flurry of block deals, delivering substantial returns and exits for investors.
So far this year, there have been 111 equity capital market
deals amounting to Rs 1,53,590 crore, surpassing the 84 deals valued at Rs 91,665 crore in the entire calendar year of 2022.
To delve into the significant highlights and explore upcoming developments for the next year, CNBC-TV18's Nisha Poddar engaged in a conversation with key industry experts: Gesu Kaushal, Managing Director of Equity Corporate Finance at Kotak Investment Banking; Pranav Parikh, Managing Partner of Private Equity at Nuvama Asset Management; and Atul Mehra, Joint Managing Director at JM Financial.
Pranav Parikh believes this is an opportune time for investors to participate in the
IPO market considering the substantial growth requirements of the companies amidst the expanding
economy.
Gesu Kaushal, expressed optimism, saying, "We have seen a very good bullish buoyant
market in 2023 and we do hope that it will continue as we get into 2024.
One of the key themes that I think were important and that we noticed was the overwhelming interest of domestic investors. We think the current cycle of the IPO market has been led by domestic institutions and domestic
retail investors and very large participation by family offices and AIFs."
