Herald Van Der Linde, Head of Asia equity strategy at HSBC, remains optimistic about India's market prospects, despite potential short-term fluctuations. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, he said he sees no reason why it won't continue to outperform. "It's a market where I say you buy into dips," Linde stated.

Discussing the broader market scenario, Linde acknowledged that the global economic environment, particularly the shifts in US bond yields and interest rates, could temporarily impact equity markets.
Linde pointed out the recent trends in US bond yields, noting their decline from five to below four in just a few weeks, which has positively influenced global equities, especially tech stocks. "This recalibration in the bond market is a temporary situation, but it's something investors should keep an eye on," he advised.
Despite these short-term challenges, he believes that the Indian market, with its strong fundamental growth and robust earnings, presents a compelling case for long-term investment.
"Last year, earnings growth in India was 26%, and we're projecting around 18% for 2024," he said, adding that the potential moderation in growth could come due to challenges in the banking sector, such as high loan-to-deposit ratios.
However, he sees these as manageable hurdles in India's overall growth trajectory. The growth, combined with India's expanding market and the increasing participation of local investors in small and mid-cap stocks, positions India favorably for future investment.
