HFCL Ltd. has received an Advanced Purchase Order (APO) worth ₹1,127.27 crore from BSNL to implement its optical transport network for carrying the telecom operator's traffic on a PAN-India basis, HFCL's exchange filing said.
The network upgrade will also deliver the required bandwidth for BSNL to launch its 4G services and make it future-ready to roll out 5G services in the coming years.
Scope of work in the order includes design, planning of architecture, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning and system integration of Optical Transport Network equipment across India.
An eight-year comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract will also be part of the order, for which BSNL will pay a sum of ₹170.3 crore to HFCL.
The order has to be executed within 18 months from the date of the purchase order.
Post this network upgrade, BSNL will have a data capacity of 12 terabytes, which, as per HFCL, will effectively meet its data needs for the next decade.
"The Company's innovative portfolio of next-generation products and services, crafted with the latest technology standards and security-centric designs, is strategically positioned to empower service providers," a company statement said.
"Our comprehensive network upgrade will not only address the heightened demands of Enterprise and FTTH/Broadband services but strategically positions BSNL for the seamless launch of 4G services and the anticipation of 5G services," said HFCL Managing Director Mahendra Nahata.
Shares of HFCL have opened 4.3% higher at ₹87.80. The stock had gained 15% in 2023.
