Emerging markets well placed; like housing & pharma in India: Jefferies’ Simon Powell

Emerging markets are well placed going into 202l, said Simon Powell, Equity Strategist at Jefferies on Wednesday.

Speaking in an interview with CNBC-TV18, Powell said, “Money supply is booming everywhere so we can expect flows. I think emerging markets are well placed going into 2021. The back to normal trade will continue and so our recommendation to a lot of the strategists here is to look at the back to normal trade in Q1 and to stick with the value trade rather than the growth trade.”

On India front, he said, “When I look down at some of the things with our India specialists, they like the housing story in terms of mid-range housing and infrastructure and some of the pharma stories as well.”
