Buying gold during Dhanteras and Diwali is considered auspicious in Indian households. The yellow metal has been the best-performing asset this year. This as the economic uncertainty brought by COVID-19 forced investors to park their funds in safe-haven assets like gold.

Gold prices have jumped nearly 32 percent this calendar year. Despite the recent correction, domestic gold prices are still hovering around more than Rs 50,000 per 10-gram level. While there are various ways of buying gold, today it's all about Dhanteras buying.

To discuss the road ahead for gold, CNBC-TV18's Manisha Gupta spoke to Tehmasp Printer, managing director at IGI; PR Somasundaram, managing director of India at World Gold Council; Colin Shah, chairman of GJEPC and Rajiv Popley, director of Popley Group.
