Natural rubber is essential to make 40,000 products like tyres, footwear, gloves, balloons, rubberstamps. Natural rubber cannot fulfil all requirements and thus synthetic rubber which is usually cheaper to produce has been gaining traction over the decades.
Synthetic rubber is cheaper to produce but is less flexible, less able to withstand vibration.
About three quarter of world’s rubber harvest goes in to making automobile, truck and airplane tyres, more than 2 billion a year.
Despite all ups and downs in the global economy the demand for tyres continues to grow.
