A Gautam Buddh Nagar court on Friday, March 22, granted bail to YouTuber Siddharth Yadav, popularly known as Elvish Yadav, in a suspected drugs case. Yadav was arrested by the Noida Police on March 17 in connection with its probe into the suspected use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a party.
Yadav was among six people named in an FIR lodged at Sector 49 Police Station in Noida on November 3 last year.
The YouTuber's lawyer Advocate Prashant Rathi said, "The court heard the bail application and granted bail in the case. He will have to furnish two bail bonds of ₹50,000 each, which would be submitted in the court." Advocate Deepak Bhati, the lawyer representing Yadav, said despite the bail, it may take some time before Yadav gets to walk out of the Luksar Jail.
The controversial 26-year-old YouTuber won the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 2. He was booked under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Wildlife Protection Act and the Indian Penal Code. The case was lodged on the complaint of an official of animal rights group People For Animals (PFA).
PFA Chairperson and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi has accused Yadav of involvement in illegally selling snake venom and sought his immediate arrest.
On November 4, Yadav was briefly stopped for questioning by police in Rajasthan's Kota while he was travelling with his friends in a car but was let off soon.
