Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday offered prayers at the Veerabhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister, in traditional attire, was also seen performing the aarti and singing the 'Shri Ram Jai Ram' bhajan.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, PM Modi, with his eyes closed and hands joined, was seen singing the 'Shri Ram Jai Ram' bhajan at the 16th-century temple.
PM Modi’s visit to the Andhra temple came just days before the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
A few seconds into the video, while PM Modi looked engrossed in the bhajan, the temple priests were also seen joining him. The video closed with the visuals of the Prime Minister joining hands and bowing as the bhajan appeared to end.
Earlier, in another video, PM Modi performed aarti for the deity before hearing the verses from the Ranganatha Ramayan, which is in Telugu.
The temple in the Sri Sathya Sai District of Andhra Pradesh is dedicated to the deity Veerabhadra, believed to be the fiery avatar of Lord Shiva. The Lepakshi temple also houses shrines for other deities like Papanasheshwara, Raghunatha, Bhadrakali, etc.
Legend has it that when Ravana abducted Goddess Sita, Jatayu, the eagle, tried to rescue her but was wounded and felled. Searching for Goddess Sita, when Lord Rama arrived here and saw Jatayu, he said, “Le Pakshi”, meaning, “Rise, O Bird”, in Telugu. The dying bird then informed Lord Rama about Ravana taking Sita captive with him to Lanka.
During his Andhra Pradesh visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics in Sri Sathya Sai District.
Besides that, PM Modi will also hold a road show in Kochi, Kerala, and perform puja and darshan at Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple on Wednesday morning, Hindustan Times reported.
