Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday, September 11. Jugnauth attended the 18th G20 Summit held in Delhi on September 9 and 10. After the summit was concluded, the Mauritius PM took a two-day visit to Varanasi.

On Monday, PM Jugnauth reached the Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport by a special flight. On his arrival, the Labour Minister of Uttar Pradesh Anil Rajbhar received him at the airport. Following his arrival, PM Jugnauth along with his family visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple and offered prayers.
After worshipping the temple, the Mauritius PM went to the Dashashwamedh Ghat along with his father-in-law’s urn to offer prayers, reported news agency ANI.
According to reports, the Mauritius PM will attend the spectacular Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening.
Reportedly, this is the third visit of Mauritius PM Jugnauth to Varanasi. Previously in 2019, Jugnauth had visited the city for the first time when he was involved in different ongoing programmes. Later in 2021, he came to Uttar Pradesh’s historic city for the second time when he participated in different events and also performed Ganga Aarti. It is believed that PM Jugnauth’s ancestors were the residents of Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, which is close to Varanasi.
Earlier, Mauritius PM Pravind Kumar Jugnauth arrived in New Delhi for the G20 Summit on Thursday, September 7. He held a meeting with the External Affairs Minister, Dr S Jaishankar wherein both the leaders reaffirmed their commitments to take up the truly special partnership between India and Mauritius.
PM Jugnauth also held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi where they discussed the cooperation in infrastructure, fintech, culture and other issues of mutual interest.
“My heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji @narendramodi for his invitation to the 18th G20 summit. The world is indeed one family. Our shared efforts for a better planet will foster peace, justice and sustainability,” PM Jugnauth tweeted after his participation at the G20 Summit.
Jugnauth also congratulated PM Modi on the success of ISRO’s recent Lunar mission Chandrayaan-3 and said he looked forward to future cooperation between the two countries in the space sector and also thanked him for the special invitation for Mauritius to participate in the G20 Summit as a ‘Guest Country’.
