Rising Bharat Summit 2024: Prasoon Joshi and Amitabh Kant discuss brand 'Bharat'
Former CEO of NITI Ayog and India's current G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant was a formative force behind India focusing G20 presidency around the brand Bharat. There had been stories about how Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to spread the event across geographies.

Explaining the rationale at Rising Bharat Summit 2024, Kant said: "PM's vision was that it should be a people's presidency. So, we took it to 60 cities in India. We made it a pan-India presidency."
He emphasised that while making it a pan-India presidency, the government also utilised the opportunity to improve drainage and sewage solid waste routes.
"We cleaned up the lakes, the backwaters, we really transformed India. We also use that opportunity to spread local culture, one district one product, we involved the people of those particular districts, of those particular schools, colleges," Kant said.
There have been various debates around the India-Bharat nomenclature. Reflecting on that, lyricist and marketer Prasoon Joshi said, “It’s less about nomenclature and more about what you feel. What is the ethos you feel? What does it evoke? It’s not just semantics, there’s science to it. When you pronounce Bharat, a different imagery is evoked and that is very personal and important for me. I would never give up Bharat as a name for any cost. It is deep-down, engrained into what we believe the country is.”
When asked about a slogan he would give for the branding of the country, Joshi, who is the Chairman of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific and CEO & CCO, McCann Worldgroup India, said "Gunj Raha Hai Bharat".
