The 'Pran-Pratishtha' or consecration ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will be a historic moment in the country as people are gearing up for the mega event. While the seven-day rituals for the ceremony started on January 16, the main event will be held on Monday (January 22).

“The auspicious Prana Pratishtha yoga of the Deity of Bhagwan Shri Ram Lalla arrives on the approaching Paush Shukla Kurma Dwadashi, Vikram Samvat 2080, i.e., Monday, the 22nd of January 2024,” the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra earlier said while sharing details about the ceremony.
Ayodhya, the temple town in Uttar Pradesh having a rich history of mythology, has been decked up for the consecration ceremony, while stringent security measures have been implemented in the city. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event on Monday.
On Friday, the glimpse of the new Ram Lalla idol inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was made public.
In the image, Ram Lalla can be seen in the standing posture. The 51-inch idol has been carved by Mysuru-based sculptor Arun Yogiraj. It was placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple on Thursday afternoon.
On Saturday, Sharkaradhivas and Phaladhivas will be held in the morning, while Pushpadhivas will take place in the evening, as per the Ram temple trust. Meanwhile, on Sunday, a day before the main event, rituals like Madhyadhivas will be held in the morning and Shaiyadhivas in the evening.
Here's a list of events scheduled for January 22:
  1. The 'pran-pratishtha' or consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol at the Ayodhya Mandir will start at 12:20 pm on January 22 and is expected to end by 1 pm.
  2. The Ram Lalla deity will be worshipped in the morning and will be consecrated in the afternoon during Mrigashira Nakshatra.
  3. Lakshmi Kant Dixit, a Vedic scholar from Varanasi, will perform the rituals at the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony.
  4. At the end of the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi is reportedly scheduled to deliver a speech.
  5. Around 8,000 guests will be in Ayodhya to attend the consecration ceremony. However, only a few of them will be allowed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, reports said.
  6. Besides Ayodhya, several events will be organised in various parts of the country on January 22. Also, the ‘pran-pratishtha' ceremony will be telecasted live at thousands of temples.
