India's parliament was back at work for the first time during the pandemic. Truncated timings, staggered sittings, no weekend holidays, no question hour and 45 bills are on the agenda this Monsoon Session.

The 18-day long session began with COVID-19 protocols in place, over 4,000 people, including MPs, tested for COVID-19, of which 25 MPs are believed to have tested positive. Most operations, including attendance of MPs, have been digitised for the first time in history. The Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha sittings are being held in two shifts and without any break.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to all political parties to stand in solidarity with soldiers guarding India’s borders, He said the message needs to be sent out very strongly that the nation is united for its forces.
