PM Narendra Modi inaugurates NMDC's steel plant in Bastar, says 50,000 people will get jobs

Addressing the public, PM Modi said “The steel produced in Bastar will strengthen the armed forces along with boosting defence exports." He added that the plant will provide employment opportunities to approximately 50,000 people. The steel plant is a greenfield project that will produce high-quality steel.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, October 3, dedicated to the nation and laid foundation stones for several projects worth Rs 27,000 crore, including NMDC's steel plant, in Jagdalpur, Bastar in the poll-bound Chhattisgarh.

The assembly elections in Chhattisgarh are due later this year. The projects aim to enhance socioeconomic growth, and 'Ease of Living' for the people, the PM said.
Prime Minister inaugurated the NMDC Steel Ltd’s Steel Plant worth more than Rs 23,800 crores at Nagarnar in Bastar district. He also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of Jagdalpur Railway station and the Boridand — Surajpur rail line doubling project. He also flagged off the Taroki — Raipur DEMU Train Service, and dedicated to the nation a new rail line between Antagarh and Taroki and a rail line doubling project between Jagdalpur and Dantewada.
The Prime Minister also dedicated a road upgradation project to the nation from ‘Kunkuri to Chhattisgarh — Jharkhand Border section’ of National Highway — 43.

On the other hand, the Congress had called for a 'bandh' (shutdown) in the region during the PM's visit. The state ruling party alleged that the Modi government wants to privatise the steel plant.
