Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday commemorated the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, expressing his homage and reverence. He remarked, "I pay homage to Pujya Bapu on his Punya Tithi. I also pay homage to all those who have been martyred for our nation. Their sacrifices inspire us to serve the people and fulfil their vision for our nation."
Gandhi, whose life was tragically cut short by Nathuram Godse on this day in 1948, remains an enduring symbol of India's struggle for independence.
Another Twitter handle, '@modiarchive,' known for sharing insights into the prime minister's life, shared excerpts from PM Modi's diary containing impactful quotes from Gandhi. The handle emphasised that Modi not only extensively read Gandhi but also documented his quotes in his diary, drawing inspiration from them in various aspects of his life.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid tribute to Gandhi, expressing his hope that the timeless ideals of the late leader would continue to inspire future generations. "Remembering Pujya Bapu on his punyatithi," Sarma wrote on Twitter, adding, "Bapu's life has been one of selfless service to the nation, marked by courage and righteousness. As I reflect on his profound thoughts, I also pay homage to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of Maa Bharati."
