On Navy Day, Anand Mahindra talks about his most ‘energising memories’
On the occasion of Navy Day 2023, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra recalled his visit to aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant during his childhood days.

He said it was “one of the most energising memories” for him.
“One of the most energising memories from my childhood is a visit on board our first aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant. I remember a strong feeling of being safe & protected. Our Navy still makes me feel that way. On Navy Day, I bow low with gratitude,” Anand Mahindra wrote on X alongside a video of the Indian Navy.
‘Navy Day’ is observed on December 4 to recognise the significant role of the Indian Navy and to commemorate Operation Trident's success which took place during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. On this day, the Indian Navy undertakes an ‘Operational Demonstration’, showcasing its readiness and courage.
The Navy Day programme is being organised at the Sindhudurg Fort in Maharashtra this year. This is the first time the day is being celebrated away from the major naval stations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the program at Tarkarli and will also unveil an equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi extended greetings on Navy Day and said Navy personnel's commitment to safeguarding our seas is a testament to their unwavering dedication to duty and love for our nation.
“On Navy Day, best wishes to all the personnel of the Indian Navy. Their commitment to safeguarding our seas is a testament to their unwavering dedication to duty and love for our nation. In every circumstance, their spirit and resolve remain unshakable. We are forever grateful for their service and sacrifices,” PM Modi wrote on X.
This time, the Navy Day celebrations at Sindhudurg will pay homage to the rich maritime heritage of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who has inspired the new Naval Ensign.
