The city of Mumbai has seen a doubling of COVID cases in the last 3 days. In a conversation with CNBC-TV18, BMC Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal, warned that it was important not to let one's guard down.

“If we behave responsibly, if we take a vow to not step out of the home without a mask, I can assure that there will be no second wave,” he said.
Chahal further added that if cases remain under control, they will push for local trains to start post-December 15.
Chahal said that the next 3 weeks remain crucial. “Next 3 weeks are very crucial for us. We are watching how things will unfold because, after Ganapati, we had a lot of cases coming. Our cases went to 2,700 per day. Till now we are safe for the last 9 days, but we are keeping our fingers crossed for another 15-20 days,” he said.
On the latest guidelines issued for travel, he said that government quarantine will not be required after taking RT-PCR test during entry in Mumbai. “If you carry your negative RT-PCR test report with you which is not more than 3 days old, then you do not need to get tested and you can just walk away from the airport. However, if you don’t have the report with you, you will be tested and you will be allowed to go home immediately. There is no government quarantine and there is no reason to wait at the airport,” he said.
The BMC chief added that there will be screening at railway stations throughout Mumbai.
