I-T raids at chinese mobile phone manufacturers Oppo, Xiaomi and OnePlus in India

Searches are being conducted at over 24 premises of Oppo, Xiaomi and OnePlus in in Delhi, NCR, Karnataka, Mumbai and Hyderabad

The Income Tax department on Wednesday conducted search operations or what is popularly known as raids at Oppo, Xiaomi and OnePlus offices in various cities, sources told CNBC-TV18.

These searches are being conducted at over 24 premises in Delhi, NCR, Karnataka, Mumbai and Hyderabad, sources added.
“Searches are being carried out based on intelligence input on concealed income and tax evasion. In some cases, residential premises of senior executives are also being searched. Digital data on concealed income has been seized for further investigations,” sources said.
Also it is understood that the search began at several premises of Oppo yesterday itself and is continuing even today.
Sources said, “in the case of Xiaomi, the Bangalore office of the company had a surprise visit from the I-T department officials today morning.”
“Indian CEO's are also being questioned by the tax officials and these search operations are still underway,” sources added.
Meanwhile, responding to a query sent by CNBCTV18, OPPO said: “As an invested partner in India, we highly respect and abide by the law of the land. We will continue to fully cooperate with authorities concerned as per procedure.”
Xiaomi spokesperson said, "As a responsible company, we give paramount importance to ensuring that we are compliant with all Indian laws. As an invested partner in India, we are fully cooperating with authorities to ensure they have all the required information."
