The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for several regions across the country, while also predicting light to moderate rainfall over Central and East India in the next few days.

In its latest bulletin released on Saturday, the IMD forecasted a series of weather patterns expected to sweep through various parts of the country. According to the bulletin, light to moderate rainfall activity is anticipated over Central India from February 10 to 13, followed by similar conditions over East India from February 13 to 15.
Furthermore, the weather department has identified cold waves in isolated pockets of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. The bulletin also highlighted other weather phenomena expected in different regions and isolated light rainfall or snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on February 9, 2024.
Under the influence of a likely formation of trough/cyclonic circulation over central parts of the country, isolated to scattered light rainfall activity is expected over various states, including Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal, during specific periods between February 10 and 15, 2024.
Additionally, light-isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are forecasted over certain regions during the same period. These include East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh between February 10 and 12, 2024.
The IMD also noted minimum temperatures ranging from 5-10 degrees Celsius over several states, including Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, which are below normal for this time of year.
Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on February 9, with further conditions expected over north Rajasthan and Gangetic West Bengal on February 9 and 10, 2024.
Meanwhile, in the national capital Delhi, light fog was observed on Saturday morning. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 24 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 6 degrees Celsius. However, a change in weather is anticipated after February 13, with rainfall likely in the region.
On Friday, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees less than average.
