'Illegal' children's home sealed in Indore, caretaker booked on charge of torturing staff
A children's home in Madhya Pradesh's Indore was sealed after it was found to be running illegally earlier this month. A case has been filed against its caretaker over allegations of abuse and torture by staff members.

Around 25 girls in the facility have been shifted to other places, officials said.
“A case has been filed against the caretaker of Vatsalyapuram Bal Ashram over the allegations of abuse and torture by staff members. All the children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee where they gave the statement that they were tortured. Based on the reports, a case was registered and a probe has been initiated,” Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional DCP, Crime Branch, Indore told ANI.
Speaking on the matter, Indore DM Asheesh Singh said that a case was registered based on the investigation at Vatsalyapuram Bal Ashram and the statements of the children.

Further investigation is underway. The children's home is based in the Vijay Nagar area of Indore.
Earlier, Collector Ashish Singh had asked senior police officials to inspect the facility and take appropriate action.
“During our visit, we did not find any responsible person there. We had to ask a watchman to get the necessary documents for the facility. A person present there said the children's home did not have permission to operate,” Ghanshyam Dhangar, SDO (Revenue), Juni Indore, told PTI.
The Vatsalyapuram Bal Ashram was sealed on January 12.
The 25 girls at the facility, all below the age of 12, were later shifted to the Government Bal Ashram and Jivan Jyoti Girls' Home in the city, Dhangar said.
He further informed that a raid was carried out at the children's home by officials of the district administration, women and child welfare as well as the education departments.
Police are now investigating the matter and finding out who was operating the children's home.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had ordered all senior officials to take strict action against such illegally running facilities across the state.
