The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in several states of India.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in several states of India. The rain spells are likely to continue till June 28. The Met department has added that rainfall will possibly be accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated places.

The states and union territories where precipitation activity is likely are — Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jharkhand, West Bengal, New Delhi, Haryana, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gujarat, Andaman and Nicobar, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad.


June 25: 

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha and heavy rainfall at isolated places in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya and Goa on June 25.

Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds with speed up to 30-40 km per hour are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Also, lightning at isolated places is predicted over Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand regional meteorological centre on Thursday issued a yellow alert of heavy rainfall in six districts of Uttarakhand on June 25 — Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Nainital and Almora.

June 26: Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andaman, Nicobar Islands and Andhra Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall on June 26 and isolated places in Assam and Meghalaya may witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on the day.

Apart from this, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

June 27: Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka are most likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on June 27.

Lightning is also expected at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. Telangana may also record thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places.

June 28: According to IMD projection, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Goa, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala are likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places.

Other than these states, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh may record lightning at isolated places. Further, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely at isolated places over Telangana.l
