Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday announced the granting of Rs 50,000 to the daughters of industrial workers who are pursuing higher education to buy electric two-wheelers. The grant was announced by CM Khattar at an event in Palwal, PTI reported.

The financial support to buy e-scooters will enhance mobility for the college-going girls, CM Khattar said. Apart from this, the Chief Minister also announced an increase in the scholarship amount for the children of industrial workers. These scholarship amounts will range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 21,000 which will be available for the students from Class 9 to those pursuing graduate and postgraduate programmes.
Previously, the scholarship amount was between Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 for the students of Classes 9 and 10, while Rs 11,000 to Rs 16,000 for the degree students.
The announcements were made by the Haryana government on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday with the aim of improving the lives of the industrial workers and their families in the state.
Apart from the grant and increase in scholarship amount, CM Khattar also announced several other measures, which include the increase in financial assistance for the workers to purchase bicycles and sewing machines. For buying the bicycles, the state government has raised the amount from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 and for the women workers, who are willing to buy sewing machines, the assistance has been increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,500.
Additionally, in view of enhancing the healthcare accessibility for industrial workers, CM Khattar also talked about his plans to establish Employee State Insurance (ESI) dispensaries in different locations of Gurugram and Fatehabad districts. These ESI dispensaries will also be equipped with the ECG facilities.
To ensure safe and affordable housing for the industrial workers who frequently migrate for employment opportunities, CM Khattar also said that the government will provide 500 flats each in Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat and Yamunanagar districts in the initial phase.
He also said that the Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (SVSU) is going to launch the Guru Shishya Kaushal Samman Yojana that will identify and train 25,000 artisans and informal sector workers. This initiative by SVSU aims to promote skill-based training which will eventually benefit the youngsters. Through this programme, the successful trainees will receive certificates which would later help them to get a better pay scale. CM Khattar stated that the scheme which will be spanning up to five years is estimated to cost around Rs 208.66 crore.
