The three-day-long grand celebrations of 357th Prakash Parv, marking the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh leader Guru Gobind Singh, started on Monday and will continue until Wednesday (January 17). The celebration started with ‘Badi Prabhat Pheri’ at the Takhat Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib Gurdwara in Patna.

The Gurdwara was lit up with fairy lights and colourful flowers as people thronged in large numbers to seek blessings and participate in the events.
Starting from the gurdwara, the ‘Badi Prabhat Pheri’ passed through several places in the city and witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees. It was taken out with horses and camels, while many people played musical instruments. The procession was led by ‘Panj Pyare’ and was accompanied by ‘Palki’, 'gatka', and a band, including school children.
Besides foot patrolling, police also deployed static forces from the Chowk police station to the Malsalami police station area. Several magistrates were also deputed on the 'Badi Prabhat Pheri' procession routes.
The celebrations will conclude on Wednesday with Kirtan Darbar and ‘Akhand path’ at the Takhat Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib Gurudwara.
On Monday evening, Kavi Darbar and story-telling will be held, Guruvindar Singh, the vice-president of the prabandhak committee, told The Times of India.
The ‘Nagar Kirtan’ will start on Tuesday from Gai Ghat gurdwara and a recitation of ‘Gurbaani’ from the Guru Granth Sahib will be held.
On Sunday, a tent city was inaugurated at the Kangan Ghat to accommodate more than 2000 devotees and jathas coming from other parts of the country and abroad.
Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are expected to visit the gurdwara on Wednesday.
In this regard, concerned officials have been asked to make elaborate security arrangements for the devotees at the Kangan Ghat and other places in Patna city.
Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh told TOI that several medical camps and temporary medical facilities have been set up at various locations. They are operational with doctors, life-saving medicines, and other essential resources.
Meanwhile, superintendents and principals of several hospitals and institutions in the city have been requested to always keep the operation theatres and emergency wards ready in case of any emergency, Singh noted.
